final

Jack Purdy Final blog I had a lot of fun on both the first practice IA from the first year and the second actual IA from this year.  I found it really fun being able to put together my own performance adaptation from the novels crick crack and The Glass Menagerie.  The first one we did was from the Glass Menagerie I found this one to be more enjoyable because my group was two of my good friends and I felt that we had done a very good job together.  I played a female part which I thought made it quite funny. Then lastly I think that when I did my project on stanislavski that that had helped me the most with becoming a better actor. It taught me ways to get past my fear of public speaking and also how to show more emotion while I am performing.  I had a hard time with actually performing in front of our class I would get nervous and be scared but through therese past two years but over time we worked on ways to stop this and to just be normal. I feel that takin...

I’m Nobody! Who are you? Are you – Nobody – too? Then there’s a pair of us! Don’t tell! they’d advertise – you know! How dreary – to be – Somebody! How public – like a Frog –  To tell one’s name – the livelong June –  To an admiring Bog! Tell all the truth but tell it slant — Success in Circuit lies Too bright for our infirm Delight The Truth's superb surprise As Lightning to the Children eased With explanation kind The Truth must dazzle gradually Or every man be blind —
Select a passage from a novel you have chosen to study which provides an effective introduction of an important character or characters. How would you use staging, design and acting to ensure that this introduction would have dramatic importance for the audience The passage is from when Daniel crashed into the tree and Desiree finds him.  the design of this scene would be that Daniel crashes in the down center stage.  Then I'm going to have a light a main bright light that focuses on Daniel Desiree and the car.  then have a more dim light on everyone around him.  staging this scene The crash in down center stage desiree comes from the woods that are on both the left and right sides of the stages a picture or projector screen with mountain with a road and woods on it.   all the peasants stand up stage behind the car  desiree is down center stage next to the car quote  "she moved her hands gently over his face, hi...

Choose one passage from the novel you have studied that might be considered climactic. Show how you would stage this passage to convey the excitement of the original to the audience. Staging: the four gods should stand on either block or stairs (an elevated space) in order to show their higher status. On the other hand, Desiree should be on her knees, which shows that she is being manipulated by them. The four gods should be standing behind Desiree. All five characters should face the audience so that the audience can see their facial expression. Story line Desiree and mama go to visit the gods they are greeted by erzulie and desiree is told that she should go after daniel.  Erzulie and agwe start fighting. Papa ge comes up to desiree and she gets scared and runs away.            Costumes: Agwue in a bright blue robe.  Himself is translucent blue because he represents water.   Papa Ge would...

directors vision

If I was staging this play I would focus on the gods the most.  I would have the gods be present in the entire scene.  I would put them up on a catwalk that looked like clouds and they would be there for the whole play.  Then when they had a part in a scene it would lower down and they could get off.  I would have them present for the whole time to show that they are always watching.  then I would have a backdrop that would change when it would switch between the rich and the peasants part of the island depending on what scene it was.  When it was the peasant's side I would have there be a hut on the stage.  Then when it was the rich I would put a car there.
1.     Select a passage from a novel you have chosen to study where the appearance of a character in a specific setting raises unsettling questions for the reader. Outline how you would stage this appearance and setting for an audience, paying particular attention to elements of intrigue and/or surprise. The scene from chapter 7 where Desiree goes with mama to go visit the gods.  Then Desiree sees the goddess of love Erzulie.  She tells Desiree that she is holding her to her vow she made to papa ge.  Then the gods go to to say thet they need a romance in order to be saved.  Then erzulie and agwe get into a fight.  during the fight papa ge goes up to desiree and she runs away scared.  If I was staging this I would put desiree kneeling in front of the gods.  the gods are up on an elivated playform with an image of the peak of a mountain behind them.  Then during the fight i have Erzulie and agwe...
