    • two with no names and were the narrators
  • Summary
    • It was about two characters letters to each other.  One character had field Haiti.  then he meets a female when he was leaving and he baby dies so she throws it overboard and goes over too.  the other character is angry because her father doesn't approve of who she is in love with.  Then it goes on to her learning her father gave up everything to protect her from a gang. 
  • story 2
    • summary
      • Josephine is telling the story
      • starts with Josephine going to visit her mom in prison
      • her mom is in jail for practicing voodoo and for supposedly having wings of fire.
      • the wings of fire are just from when she was escaping from the massacre and when she got out of the water she had 
      • Josephine then meets someone named Jackeline who tells her that her mother is dying
      • they get to the prison and her mother is dead.
  • story 3
    • summary
      • Starts with the son finding out he has a spot in his school play.
      • mother gets excited and is happy
      • the father didn't really care
      • The father talked a lot about a hot air balloon
      • he steals it and flies it
      • but then he jumps out
  • story 4
    • summary
      • about a mother and a son
      • the mother is a prostitute so she can pay for her son's education
      • the father has left or died 


How do you think the son will react when he is older and people start to say stuff about his mom?

this is just to say

when I read this I get an image of someone eating a plum and also them taking it from the icebox and the color purple comes to mind because plums are purple.  also an image of someone angry that someone ate their plums and at the same time someone apologizing for taking them.  the story behind it is that they are apologizing for eating someone's plums.  some of the sounds are S which is repeated in the poem
